These 1864 Era Playing Cards are a reproduction of an old Civil War poker deck. The box image shows a pair of one-cent tax stamps, hand-cancelled on June 2, 1864. Made up of 52 cards (no jokers), this deck includes a replica of L.I. Cohen�s original design of the ace of spades, as well as a standard version.

�Number� cards display only the suit symbols--no numbers--which is a bit like counting dice pips at a glance. Face cards show full-length court figures with the suit marked on one end, for a definite right-side-up orientation. (See inset photos.)

Use this deck as a fun, educational tool or theme prop. Or just enjoy the feel of a historical connection with gamers of a bygone era!

If you have ever played cards with your grandma and her friends, this is the deck for you. Just wait until they start freaking out about the lack of numbers and the one-sided face cards. A fabulous addition to any frequent card playing house.
