Play the electrifying, multi-award winning board game Power Grid! An economic, auction, bidding, and network building game, Power Grid challenges players to supply the most most cities with power. Each player represents a power company who must buy the power plants at auction. The next step is to purchase resources (coal, oil, uranium, garbage) to produce the power to run the plants. A network, connecting the power plants to the cities, must also be built. Players will have to balance the prospect of more ecological hybrid power plants with price, as the coal and oil are cheaper. Balancing power plants, resources, and networks is an important aspect to this game. In the end, the person who can supply the most power to the most cities wins!

The double-sided game board features the United States on one side, and Germany on the other! Components of the game (the houses and tokens) are made with quality, painted wood pieces.

Big Picture:
This is my favorite game. It was also my first game purchase. I have a played a number of games and I still like this the best. There is a lot of different elements that make this game incredible. You will need a group of more dedicated gameplayers to get through it. There are a number of little rules that come up here and there, so get some one that likes this game and those will not be a problem. There are few games that resemble the unique theme and play of this game and that is why I like it so much as well.

Game Play
Each player tries to build power stations to connect cities with electricity. This game comes with a map of the US or Germany, which is great! Players bid for power stations like: wind power, nuclear, coal, oil, and yes garbage! You use these powerplants to power your cities and when a player powers 15 cities, that person wins, but is different based on the number of players. There is also a REAL market. Players need to buy coal and oil, etc to power their plants. This costs money and it changes as players buy more of one resource. It makes decision making more interesting and player order crucial, which is affected by other game decisions.

Conclusion
As I said, this is my favorite. There are elements that make this game unique and great. Game play will take at least 2 hours though and so you will need a bit of a commitment from players, but it is worth it. If you like economic games this is great. If you like strategy and colorful games, this is also a great choice. A theme that is not really found anywhere else, go out and give this game a try, I think you will like it.
