Chinese Chess is a very popular board game in the Eastern Hemisphere, designed with an elegance of complexity and strategy that rivals European Chess. Disks represent two armies, North and South, that move about on the intersections of a board grid, with the two halves separated by a “river,” and each having its own “palace” area. Specific pieces are assigned particular movements similar to European chessmen, with the objective of checkmating or stalemating the opponent’s King (or General).
