Submited By: Collin Vickers on 01/03/2007 Exciting, balanced, and addictive - Pirate's Cove is an incredibly fun game, definitely worth the fairly high price tag.
Gameplay is highly conducive to inter-player competition, in the form of player vs. player battles, (often involving more than two).
The nature of the game forces you to strategize and weigh your options; players can benefit from their own creative ideas, as well as from having a good poker face.
The game is completely balanced, with the potential for interesting twist - all players start out the same, but the luck of the draw and the dice can mean one player having a decided advantage, at least until the other players manage to take it away. There also lots of little surprises in store, such as a rampaging pirate, and the royal navy.
It can tend to run a bit long, and it cannot be played by fewer than three players, these are its only shortcomings.
Pirate's Cove is a great buy for any avid boardgame player.
